NON-SURGICAL SPINAL DECOMPRESSION RANCHO BERNARDO, CA

NON-SURGICAL SPINAL DECOMPRESSION RANCHO BERNARDO, CA

Looking For A Non-Surgical Solution For A Herniated Disc, Sciatica, Or Chronic Back Pain?

If you've been diagnosed with a herniated disc, bulging disc, disc extrusion, degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, or chronic sciatica, you've probably asked yourself one question:

"Is surgery my only option?"

For some patients, surgery is absolutely necessary.

For many others, however, there may be conservative treatment options worth exploring first.

Every week, patients from Rancho Bernardo, Poway, Scripps Ranch, Escondido, and throughout San Diego County visit The Spinal Decompression & Chiropractic Center of San Diego after months—or sometimes years—of frustration.

Many have already tried physical therapy, chiropractic care, massage therapy, acupuncture, medications, epidural injections, or simply "waiting it out."

Some improve temporarily.

Many don't.

Our goal isn't to convince every patient that spinal decompression is the answer.

Our goal is much simpler:

Determine what's causing your pain, explain your options, and honestly tell you whether we believe you're a good candidate.

"Last year, I spent three months constantly going back and forth between doctor's appointments and urgent care. The pain was unbearable—I was taking medication regularly just to get through the day. Getting out of bed was excruciating, and walking or standing felt like torture. Every step filled me with dread.

In December, my doctor finally ordered an MRI. That's when I learned I had an extruded disc pressing on my L5 nerve, which affects the leg and foot. My doctor scheduled two follow-up appointments: one for pain management (spinal injections), and another to evaluate me for surgery.

Then I discovered spinal decompression therapy. I was thrilled to find a non-invasive alternative. I never ended up needing either of those appointments.

Now, I'm walking regularly, standing up straight—something I couldn't do before. When I first sought help, I was so hunched over that I had to use a cane just to move forward. Because of the pain, I hadn't exercised in months. But now, I'm doing a program called 75 Hard, which requires not one but two 45-minute workouts per day, and I've even gotten back to lifting weights!

I'm so thankful I found this place. It's conveniently located near my work, which makes it easy to fit sessions into my lunch break. Dr. Boelk and the staff are incredibly friendly and polite—it's always a pleasure to come in.

The environment is so relaxing that I look forward to each visit. I truly thank God for leading me to this alternative. It's made such a difference in my life."

WHY DOES A HERNIATED DISC TAKE SO LONG TO HEAL?

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is:

"Why hasn't my disc healed yet?"

It's a great question.

If you sprain your ankle, strain a muscle, or cut your finger, those tissues usually receive an excellent blood supply. Blood delivers oxygen, nutrients, and the building blocks your body needs to repair injured tissue.

Spinal discs are different.

Unlike muscles, spinal discs have a very limited blood supply. Much of their nutrition comes from the movement of fluid, oxygen, and nutrients through the disc rather than from direct circulation.

That may help explain why some disc injuries heal much more slowly than many other injuries throughout the body.

It also helps explain why some patients continue to experience sciatica, numbness, tingling, or back pain months—or even years—after the original injury occurred.

Every case is different, which is why obtaining an accurate diagnosis and reviewing your MRI, if available, is such an important first step.

HOW DOES NON-SURGICAL SPINAL DECOMPRESSION WORK?

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression is a computer-controlled treatment designed to gently reduce pressure on damaged spinal discs and irritated spinal nerves.

Unlike old-fashioned traction, modern decompression systems are computerized and can precisely control the amount of force, angle of pull, treatment time, and relaxation cycles throughout the session.

At The Spinal Decompression & Chiropractic Center of San Diego, we exclusively use the DRX9000® system for lumbar conditions and the DRX9000C® for cervical conditions.

The goal is not to "pop a disc back into place."

Instead, treatment is designed to:

  • Reduce pressure on injured discs.
  • Reduce irritation of spinal nerves.
  • Create an environment that may encourage the movement of water, oxygen, and nutrients into damaged disc tissue.
  • Help patients become more comfortable so they can progress into strengthening, stabilization, and rehabilitation exercises.

Every treatment plan is individualized.

Not every patient receives the same protocol.

Treatment settings, angles, force, and progression are based on your condition, examination findings, symptoms, imaging, and how you respond throughout your care.

That's one reason we believe spinal decompression should never be a "one-size-fits-all" treatment.

SOMETHING YOU CAN TRY AT HOME TODAY

While no home exercise can "pull a disc back into place," small changes may help reduce irritation throughout the day.

If prolonged sitting increases your symptoms:

✔ Stand up every 20–30 minutes.

✔ Place a small lumbar support behind your lower back while driving.

✔ Avoid slouching on the couch for long periods.

✔ Take short walking breaks throughout the day.

These suggestions won't heal a herniated disc, but many patients tell us they notice temporary relief simply by changing positions more frequently.

WHAT OUR PATIENTS HAVE TO SAY

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"I have had an outstanding experience with Dr. Boelk and his staff at The Spinal Decompression & Chiropractic Center of San Diego. They follow a very structured treatment protocol and utilize the best spinal decompression equipment available. I've been treated elsewhere using lower-quality decompression systems and never experienced meaningful improvement. After about 12 treatments, my sciatica was gone and I was nearly back to normal... The improvement has allowed me to get back to hiking, traveling, and enjoying life again. This treatment was one of the best investments I've ever made."

HOW DO I CHOOSE THE BEST SPINAL DECOMPRESSION CLINIC?

If you're researching Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression, you'll probably find dozens of offices making similar claims.

Instead of focusing on advertisements, we encourage patients to ask a few simple questions before beginning treatment.

Does The Office Specialize In Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression?

Some offices own a single decompression table and use it occasionally.

Others have dedicated a significant portion of their practice to treating herniated discs, sciatica, neck pain, and chronic spinal conditions.

Experience matters.

What Equipment Do They Use?

Not all spinal decompression systems are the same.

Ask which decompression system they utilize and how long they've been using it.

Our office exclusively utilizes DRX9000® lumbar and DRX9000C® cervical spinal decompression systems.

How Much Experience Do They Have?

Ask:

  • How many years have they been providing spinal decompression?
  • Approximately how many treatments have they performed?
  • Do they regularly treat patients with conditions similar to mine?

Experience can make a significant difference when developing an individualized treatment plan.

Will The Doctor Personally Review My MRI?

Your MRI tells an important story.

Understanding the location of the disc injury, the amount of nerve compression, and correlating those findings with your symptoms helps determine whether spinal decompression may be appropriate.

Do They Include Rehabilitation?

Spinal decompression is only one part of recovery.

Strengthening the muscles that support your spine, improving flexibility, correcting movement patterns, and teaching proper home exercises may all help improve long-term outcomes.

Will They Tell Me If I'm NOT A Candidate?

This may be the most important question of all.

Not everyone is a candidate for Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression.

Some patients require surgery.

Others may benefit from different forms of conservative treatment.

An office should be willing to tell you honestly if they don't believe you're an appropriate candidate.

PATIENTS TRAVEL FROM OUTSIDE SAN DIEGO

Many of our patients travel several hours—and in some cases from outside California and outside the United States—to receive care because they are looking for a practice that focuses specifically on Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression.

Their stories remind us that finding the right office is often just as important as finding the right treatment.

HONESTY MATTERS

One of the things we're most proud of isn't how many patients we accept.

It's how many we don't.

If Dr. Boelk believes spinal decompression isn't the right treatment for your condition, he'll explain why and help point you toward the care that he believes is most appropriate.

We believe patients deserve honest recommendations—not unnecessary treatment.
