We provide hope and relief to those patients who were hopeless and had no relief after multiple failed treatments and sometimes literally years of pain!

My name is Dr. Cassidy Boelk DC and I am the founder and director of The Spinal Decompression & Chiropractic Center of San Diego. I like you have suffered with not only 3 herniated discs from various sports injuries but also a fractured spine at the age of 16. It was severe pain and altered my life forever. At the time it was not visible but there is a gift that comes with injury and knowledge that comes with persistence to find out how to manage your pain and eventually get rid of it.

I still have some lower back pain from time to time but I am able to manage it with 3 key principle factors that are paramount in the Pain Free Protocols I have developed in my clinic after working with thousands of patients and experimenting on myself quite a bit :)

I am very active and workout 6 days per week, surf, play hockey and golf and get the pleasure of throwing lots of batting practice and flyballs to y 11 year old son.

The 3 keys are the following:

1) Avoidance - there are certain movements and types of exercises that are not appropriate for all body types and conditions, we are not al built the same. For example, I personally avoid most spinal loading exercises such as back squats or heavy deadlifts and yoga poses that require long holds in "spinal flexion" aka bending at the waist. With my fractured spine even though it is healed it cannot withstand that pressure. Some of my patients have no problem with these movements. You have to learn which are best for you.

2) Decompression - NSSD - Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression therapy is a big part of why I am so active today and without it I could not do what I am able to currently. This therapy has been researched proven effective by many established medical affiliations such as Stanford University, Johns Hopkins University, Mayo Clinic and many others. The therapy works when applied properly and to the proper condition and patients. Be sure to be properly examined and protocols given because not all doctors utilize the proper equipment and unfortunately many doctors who utilize this treatment are not certified and do not have much experience with this treatment yet claim to be "experts". This article may help if you are considering spinal decompression for yourself or a loved one more.

3) Stabilization - This is one of the most if not the most overlooked factors that gets neglected by many doctors and practitioners. It is a sad situation but there are an extremely few number of doctors that utilize this critical key with their patients and unfortunately many that do implement it incorrectly and apply a one size fits all approach which fits no one and can cause more pain than good. Be sure that you see someone who implements this key concept properly not only on their patients but also themselves.

There are no treatments, exercises or protocols that are implemented in my clinic that are not first tested on myself successfully before hand. I have been in your shoes and suffered with severe pain, it is not fun, it is frustrating, painful, humbling, exhausting and can be changed with proper treatment. IN my office I personally exam all patients and determine their acceptance or not into our program as we only want to treat patients we feel can be helped with our protocols otherwise we do not accept their case.
